Billy Michal Student Leadership Award

This June, our founder Shona Kumar was selected by The National WWII Museum to represent New Jersey and receive the Billy Michal Student Leadership Award. This honor recognizes students who demonstrate leadership, service, creativity, teamwork, tolerance, and perseverance in their communities. Shona was selected in recognition of the community service and leadership work she has carried out through our nonprofit. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our work and continue expanding our impact!

Livingston High School junior Shona Kumar represented the State of New Jersey when she was honored with the prestigious Billy Michal Student Leadership Award at a ceremony hosted by The National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

Kumar received an all-expense-paid trip to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she joined student leaders from across the country for a national recognition ceremony. Each year, organizers select one student from each state and the District of Columbia for the award, which honors young people who embody the American spirit through leadership, teamwork, tolerance, creativity and perseverance.
